Competition – PART TWO

A world without competition…

So… what would the world be in the absence of competition? I am not just talking about sports competition, not just healthy competition and not just war, but all of it.

First let's explore technology…

tech·nol·o·gy

    1. The application of science, especially to industrial or commercial objectives.
    2. The scientific method and material used to achieve a commercial or industrial objective.
  1. Electronic or digital products and systems considered as a group: a store specializing in office technology.
  2. Anthropology. The body of knowledge available to a society that is of use in fashioning implements, practicing manual arts and skills, and extracting or collecting materials.

Technology is the advancement of human knowledge. From electronics and medicine to architecture and agriculture we see an incredible advancement in technology. Much of technology is contributed from wars and nations struggling for power, from competition. Some of our greatest advancements were made from the space race and from various wars. Another sum of technology is contributed from the independent struggles of individuals for power. For example, many of our advancements in automobiles were made from NASCAR and other automobile racing industries.

So in a world without competition, we would not struggle for power. We would not have virtually any technologies we have today; it would be like living in the Stone Age in perfect peace. Though we would still struggle for our own survival and therefore would most likely advance in simple things. However these advancements would be slow to progress for there are many other fields of science that are missing to support fields like medicine. Also, entertainment would be entirely different. The majority of the things we watch and do for fun have to do with competition.
