Is it just me, or does anyone else think that this world is driven by marketing. The world is constantly telling us how to live, to dress, to eat, to sleep. Television constantly reminds us that we are not good enough unless we have this or look like that. Gigantic golden arches and VW signs line the roads. We now have super shopping centers letting us buy it all at one low price. But it is not just the media that is marketing to us. It is each other.
Just today I saw this guy driving down the road in front of me. On the back of his car he had a bumper sticker that read "Be Loyal, Buy Local". What a true patriot for the great country we live in. I saw that he had firmly placed this sticker, with care, next to the over-sized emblem declaring SUBARU. At first it simply made me laugh. But really, is it our ideas that we market, or is it the world's influence on us that markets through us.
